Sounds to me like a testimonial to the tightness of the hatch covers. I have to say, though, that neither my wife's nor my white Romany has crumpled like that, and we have paddled Lake Superior on some pretty hot days. Typically the hatch cover just sucks in a lot. Is it possible those "heavies" were an atypical lightweight layup?
