Heatstroke and dehydration are excellent ways to screw up one's judgment, and go on to make a really fatal mistake. Dehydration affects one's ability to survive all sorts of other challenges, such as hypothermia. But I am stil going to wear my PFD. I don't have to worry about being too warm where I paddle, usually the reverse. And, bottom line, I sink like a rock without it, even if the weather is hot.
