I just noticed that Cobra Kayaks has introduced a Quad Sit-on-top. It's 18 ft. 6 in. long and weighs 100lbs. Positions for 4 adults, so plenty of room for a couple and two kids. 3 foot beam makes it pretty stable. Very heavy to lift onto a car top rack so if I were considering such a boat I'd go with a trailer for hauling it, and definitely a cart to get it to the water's edge.
