Hi!

I have a three year old Old Town Millennium 160 made of Polylink 3. The
underside of the stern is gettting literally shaggy (when I first
started paddling I would enter the kayak with the tail on the beach, a
bad habit I have long since stopped). It is superficial, but uncosmetic
and creates drag.

Any good ideas for fixing this sort of shag on poly boats?

Thanks!

Get a steel scraper and _carefully_ scrape it off. A cabinet
scraper would be a fancy way, but freehand is ok.

If you do it freehand, tilt the top edge of the scraper forward
a bit so that the cutting edge is less likely to gouge. I'd
hold it between two hands and rest the wrists on the kayak if
it's wide enough at the point being scraped.

Another alternative it to burn the fuzzies off, but that's even
more risky.

If you live near a ski shop, they know how to do it and can supply
you with scrapers as well as PTex candles to repair gouges.
