My son paddles a Wilderness Systems piccolo and has since he was 7. He loves it and it has proven itself on long (the Green River) and moderately wavy stuff (Gulf Coast). My daughter has an EPIsea which we just bought used. This is a much faster boat, more responsive and more fun in my mind although it is a bit tippier than the piccolo.
