John,

I have found mail2web (mail2web.com) to very reliable while away. Like some
of the other suggestions, it's a Web-based POP mail client. You simply give
it the account name and password of your existing account(s) and it
retrieves the messages from your in-box to a web page which allows you to
read and reply. It's free with minimal ads. You can store your settings
under a screen name for future use.

Rgds,
Jeff

Not sure if this will meet your specific needs, but have you ever used www.thatweb.com? It allows you to access accumulated mail in your normal home account while you are at a remote terminal. If I were out of town for a week, all I would need is internet access in order to view the messages waiting to be downloaded from my ISP (attbi.com). www.thatweb.com is not ISP-specific.

Check with your ISP. Mine has a "Webmail" page that I can access from
anywhere and get my current emails, send and receive, etc. using my usual
email address. I can't access email folders or address lists stored on my
regular computer, so I carry a printed address list.

Also, our business website has a 'secret' spot those in the know can click
on (passworded) so you can deal with your office email readily, too.
