When I come down from a hike at altitude (anything above 8,000 ft), a small amount of condensation accumulates under the glass. It eventually disperses (perhaps after weeks), with no apparent effect on accuracy. Does anyone have a recommendation for a good watch that does not do this? If you are getting condensation under your crystal you have water in your watch. This is not particuarly good. I have had diving watches for years and not had a condensation problem. Maybe a jeweler could open it up and dry it out for you?? My kayaking watch is a reasonably cheap TIMEX expedition. Cost about $50, is analog (not digital so I can see it in all light conditions), is waterproof (resistent they like to say these days) to 50M (I think- anyway deeper than I plan to go) and if I lose it I will not grieve too much. I don't know how the watch would act at 15K feet altitude?? *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - Any opinions or suggestions expressed here are solely those of the writer(s).
