This thread reminds me of a great Mike Royko column several years ago
comparing a multi-thousand dollar Rolex with a cheap throwaway watch.  The
point of the column was that the cheap throwaway did more than the Rolex and
when the battery ran out, you threw it sway and bought a new watch that had
more features than the old one.
