Right.  Attendance, albeit already low, significantly drops on sunny
weekends (or so I've heard :-).  Regarding Baja and other sunny
destinations: good thing is (in BC) that local conditions provide for a nice
paddling somewhere from April to early October - no moscquitos, not too
crowded, not too hot.  Therefore Baja etc naturally shifts to
November-March, which I think is nicier than April through September in
southern areas - again no mosquitos, not too hot and less crowded.  Plane
tickets are also cheaper in winter.

PS: I would be sceptical about settling on BC or WA islands (with the
exception of The Island, of course :-), for people far from retirement age.
Jobs are mostly on the mainland (both in WA and BC),  and islands without
bridge connection - well... nice to feel desolation sometimes, but good
commuting  to workplace is smth not to be ignored.  North-west WA islands
are better connected to the mainland than those in BC, I have to say.
