Actually the embarrassment only comes if you have too much pride, dump your pride and everyone, including yourself can have more fun. Since I find myself in potentially embarrassing situation routinely, I simply stopped worrying about it. My strategy has been to kind of make a joke out the situation by saying something so obviously a cover everyone laughs. If it were me, I would have exaggerated the motion of the roll-up, and then yelled "Hah!" (as if you were trying to do that on purpose), then hump and scoot the kayak back toward the water as if you are riding some kind of seal on the beach. If anyone was close enough to talk to you I would have added with a grin "I bet you thought I did that by accident, but actually it takes great skill to pull that maneuver, and I have been practicing that for weeks" Peter *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - Any opinions or suggestions expressed here are solely those of the writer(s).
