Just following up on my earlier post on keeping your handheld in a dry bag,
other folks have reminded us of the need to keep it out of the sun... it is
amazing how much moisture there is in your typical sea level
atmosphere...and as Steve says a dry bag quickly turns into a
greenhouse...same goes for cellphone storage.
Put easily replaceable tissue paper on the bottom of the bag; the crystals
some people use will not be sufficient. Nor can you tell if the crystals are
still absorbing moisture. ..
Other thoughts: If I was buying on the American market [which I am not] I
would carry TWO handhelds on a coastal expedition..one in a drybag for
emergencies, and the other for day-to-day use.. Then I would know I would
have backup. Those radios are half the price they were a few years back...
