The skill level is not being addressed here. The high AR paddles require a different technique, which requires some time to acquire. Without the skill, the high AR paddle will show very poorly. The idea of doing this at a paddling symposium is a good one, as it is more likely to attract paddlers with the necessary skills. But there will still be lots fo uncontrolled variables, like boat (which could be eliminated at a symposium, byusing a standard craft) and other personal variables like conditioning, size, etc. The flume is probably the best way.
