Yesterday, I said I recalled a handful of stories about people being killed by bears, in Virginia, in the past couple decades. An internet search found two sources, one stating that there hasn't been a bear death in Virginia in the past 100 years, and the other is the quote below. "(nationally)...less than 50 fatal maulings have been attributed to the bears in the last 100 years. Authorities in Virginia, Maryland and Pennsylvania said they are unaware of a single death attributable to a bear attack in the history of their states going back to the colonial era." Either my memory is going, or I'm just an idiot... maybe both. Anyway, I rescind my remarks. They seem to be incorrect.
