Sandy Kramer visited us in Queretaro. Came in through Guadalajara on Saturday 28 June. We picked her up. She spent until Monday with Lety, Gus and Andy in our home, and we took her back to Ajijic on Tuesday the 1st. We had a ball and enjoyed very much her company and some undeserved presents that she brought down. We also met people from the retired Americans community in Ajijic. Pictures at http://community.webshots.com/user/cayucochief We went to the beautiful colonial town San Miguel Allende. We paddled in the Dam. Sandy tried both, the double with me and the single Performa which is kind of tippy. She looked like a pro in the single, even when sorting some skiers waves, and she paddles fast. I mention this because she had commented that she paddled mostly on SOT`s, and had some concerns. My father in law (75) and my son (11) stayed with us and enjoyed Sandy´s excellent Spanish. We went to the sunk church and the dam curtain. Afterwards we treated ourselves to a good Spanish paella made by a Sevilla inmigrant and some Coronas and visited the beautiful downtown San Miguel, with its Baroque Cathedral, and it´s beautiful 16th century houses and park. On Monday we walked along the colonial downtown Queretaro, and exchanged a lot of info about paddling places, possible trips, books, what have you. I guess that`s what it is all about in paddlewise. You make friends through e-mail, and you`ll always have a friend anywhere in the world that will receive you as the family we are. You get to know the real place instead of the Hollywood type touristic corners. You get to exchange lots of ideas on different perspectives about things, and that increases strongly our culture and broadens our mind, and very strongly the kids minds. Sandy, you are always welcome back, and hopefully in Veracruz next time. Right now I am placing my pennies in the safe box in preparation to our trip to Miami to visit you.
