Thank you, Rafael, for writing the TR for me.

You can't imagine how welcoming it was to look out into a sea of unknown
faces at the airport and see a kayak paddle.

I can't begin to thank you enough for your hospitality. It was exceptionally
nice to meet and stay with you and your family for a few days. I look
forward to reciprocating later on this year.

The opportunity to see another part of your beautiful country and to mingle
with locals was a definite plus. And we will have to meet and paddle again -
Veracruz is on my travel wish list.

The object of the trip was to "check out" the Lake Chapala area (particularly
the village of Ajijic) as a possible retirement locale. There's an
expatriate community of 7,000 - 10,000 in that area alone! San Miguel de Allende is
another popular place.

I've five more years to go, but will be able to afford to retire at age 62
and move to Lakeside then. I have done a lot of research and amassed a bunch of
URLs, so if anyone else has been thinking about this possibility, please
email me via the backchannel.

I was able to meet and see the houses of several Americans with prices
ranging from $47,000 to a guesstimate of $250+. I stayed with a gal in the most
modest one, right in the village. She is able to live at a higher standard than
in the US and manages solely on her social security income.

Just having this to look forward will help me get through the next five
years.
