RE: [Paddlewise] Nike Toketees

Howdy, Evan.

They are a neoprene upper as opposed to the mesh design as seen on their
aqua socks.  I would call them a neoprene booty instead of a sock.

It is not, however, a dry bootie as there are 8 drain holes on each side of
the lower just above the sole line.  The drains are 1/4" x 1/16", (6mm x
1.5mm).  The interior of the openings are reduced a bit from those exterior
dimensions.  Small pebbles are not a problem but the drains do allow a bit
of sand/grit to enter.

I wear a pair of poly liner socks in mine during the hot weather and either
a light neo or light wool sock when it gets colder.

The thing I really like about them is I can feel confedent in my
preparedness for a river rescue or a laborious portage.  Additionally, I do
not swim out of them even in strong cross currents while towing a boat.
I've left two pair of Nike aqua sox in the North Platte river now!

If you are especially sensitive to grit in the shoe, you might consider the
low cut version of the Togetee as it is quicker to remove and put back on as
compared to the mid style.
