There are a handful of paddlers each year who complete a circumnavigation of
Vancouver Island, but there's only one book on it. `Visions of the Wild' by
Maria Coffey and Dag Goering and recently published by Harbour Publishing.
They circumnavigated in a double.

Joshua, I know that those two questions are just examples of many, many
questions, but if you acquire the pertinent charts for Vancouver Island,
it should be relatively simple to measure the distances. Do you have
the charts?

Dreams are great. I have several myself. Some are likely to go to the
grave with me without being realized, but some will be done...
eventually. The most practical dream right now is a couple weeks
paddling Glacier Bay. That one is doable.... if I can just manage to
get about three weeks of vacation all in one continuous block of
time...., and the money to get me and all my stuff from Virginia to
Alaska.... and find a suitable paddling partner...... and if I can just
improve my skills a little bit more. I can almost put a check mark next
to that dream already!

Anyway, great dream, and good luck with it!

750 miles seems to ring a bell but I'm not sure....

I was watching the local news last night and there was a piece about a
fellow who is planning to swim around the Island. He left off the Victoria
waterfront yesterday and is planning to average 30 km's a day! That's a long
way even in a kayak!
