Okay, amigos, it looks as if I'm going to have to make some major lifestyle changes. When I bought my lakefront house 5 years ago, the property taxes were $2,200/year. Then they went up to $2,300, and again to $2,400. I've just found out that this time they've gone up to $2,880 a year. That's $240 a month!!! It's been a struggle as it is, but I think it's time to make other plans. I'm going to look at a mobile home community in Broward and I'll be able to afford to pay cash and still have $$ left over. Yak storage will be a challenge, but this might be the time to divest myself of the Seda Gypsy and the two Hobie Pursuit SOTs. I'd like a 14-15' kevlar sit-on-top for the ease of entry/exit and because of hip arthritis accommodations. Also, I've found that since I got the minivan 2 years ago, loading is much more challenging. Peter from Easy Rider will custom-adapt the Eskimo 15 decked boat into a SOT. It has hatches and a rudder (goodie!) and can even have sail rigging. Cost is $3,300 (plus shipping and who knows what else)but he'll even accept a layaway order. He told me of a customer who took 4 years to pay off his boat and has recently picked it up. I was hoping cayuco chief Rafael of www.mayanseas.com would be able to make one for me, but his molds are for 17-footers and he hasn't started working in Kevlar yet.
