North of the border there is some lovely paddling in the 1000 Islands of
the St. Lawrence River between Canada and the USA. One very pretty/narrow
channel, perhaps used by rum-runners during Prohibition, literally takes
one within a "stone's throw" of a Duty-Free shop (consider the irony).
Within 20-30 feet in this channel one can see/touch US/Cdn boundary/survey
markers. It is great fun to kayak back & forth across the border, which is
something I very much appreciate... and the water/landscape is wonderful!
