Hi, The whale shown in the photo isn't the one who jumped the sailboat. According to the Australian/Britsh newssources this is the only known white humpback, who had recently a close encounter with a boat's propeller. As a matter of fact some people think part of the prop is still stuck in the whale. The article, I found it via google early in the week (I heard first from the sail boat story last Monday) gave a few more details.Common ground is that the sail boat most likely got between a mother and her calf and triggered the attack. Nobody of the humans involved got hurt, whale's health unknown (doesn't make things better for the one with the propeller stuck in the head) Sailbaot got in more serious trouble when it was drifting towards shoreand no call for help was possible by radio (mast gone, antenna gone).
