G'Day Paddlewisers,

I'm guessing there's been a holiday in the US as Paddlewise has turned very
quiet. And I have a couple of burning issues to discuss:~)

My Pittarak has just gone back to the manufacturer for repairs to numerous
gelcoat calamities, to fix a leak in the day hatch and to consider replacing
the rudder with a skeg. The kayak builder is suggesting it might be worth
selling the old boat and buying a new one of the same model. This sounds
like a good idea except that its taken years to fit it out to suit me and I
hate getting rid of old and trusted gear.

Leads me to the question. Just how long can a fibre glass kayak last if its
regularly maintained? Do high (as in Australian) levels of UV in sunlight
make a difference?

All the best, PeterO
