At which point I would have to ask what the layup was. I could see a poorly layed up chopped glass boat failing like that. I own a kevlar canoe bought new in 1978, it has a skincoat finish - no gel coat. It spent about 10 years on top of a car in a parking lot with no shelter or cover. I used to paddle at lunch most days, so I took the boat to work everyday. It's incredibly ugly and highly abused but it's still water tight. It's aptly named "The beater".
