Carey, There are several wonderful places in Maryland a very short distance from I-95 such as Havre d' Grace (paddle the Susquehanna River back under the I-95 bridge if you want); Closer to Baltimore is the beautiful Gunpowder River, launch from Gunpowder Falls State Park; Annapolis is a wonderful place to paddle if you don't mind a detour. You can also paddle the Potomac River from Fort Washington, where the South side of the DC Capital Beltway crosses the river. Contact me back-channel if you would like better directions or paddling partners. In November you will probably need cold water gear like a wetsuit or drysuit. Brian Blankinship From: "Carey Parks" I'm going to be traveling from New York to SW Florida in November with my sea kayak on the roof, probably down I-95 but if you sway me I can divert a little. I'm looking for one or two really good places for a flatwater day paddle on the way down. What can you point me to? *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - Any opinions or suggestions expressed here are solely those of the writer(s).
