I learned to roll by watching it exclusively-- over and over again. The first
time it worked, I was slightly shocked. (I'd rolled in a pool with an
instructor before, but never managed for a year after that to roll on my own-- in a
pool or otherwise). Although the boat I practiced in was a big plastic necky
narpa (without braces), learning the c-to-c was especially important to me, as
ninety percent of the time I'm paddling, I'm in K-1. Sweep rolls in one of
those aren't good for your back-- at least in my older model.

Don et al, so what is a good video for that? I took a class, and still
struggle. Part of my problem is that I'm trying to roll an
uncooperative boat - Perceptions Carolina, 14-1/2 ft long, 25" wide, a
flat bottom, and not outfitted properly for me (I slide around the
cockpit when trying to roll). I'm almost done building a stripper - Jay
Babina's Outer Island, 17'10" and basically 21" wide with a design that
is reportedly easy and a pleasure to roll. As soon as I finish the
boat, I want to start practicing again, but I don't want to shell out
another $80 for the same class as I took before. I'd rather have a
cheaper video that I can watch till the cows come home, so to speak.

Any tips, hints on another resource? I may get Grace Under Pressure as
well, but will also want something else if it's more appropriate for my
situation.

Rick

Pardon my ignorance... is there a difference between a WW roll and a Sea
Kayak roll? I just figured that each type of roll was the same
regardless of which type of boat you were in. That is, the "XYZ" roll
is done identically, regardless of being in a WW boat or a Sea Kayak.
Is that not the case?

Rick

PS - Leaving town in 15 minutes.... won't see replies or respond until
Monday morning, but thanks in advance :-)
