Hello all, My name is Carey Parks, from Cincinnati, OH. My wife and I have had our first kayaks for one week today, and having found your mail list are anxious to partake of your collective wisdom. We've been sailors for 20 years, and on Lake Erie for the last 12. Messing about in boats is comfortable for us. Sitting this close to (in?) the water is a thrill. Managing the direction without that keel and ballast - well, we're getting there. We sold the sailboat this spring and turned it into property in SW Florida. The dingy we just sold and turned it into two Cape Horn 14's to use around here and in SW Florida. I mention the locations so those who have local knowledge will hopefully respond and let us know of good places to paddle. We think the kayaks are great. Sailing is done "upon" the water, kayaking is done "within" the water. Not quite as "within" as scuba, but one is every bit as aware of the water as an environment to be enjoyed and respected.
