Mark, Tim, et all ... I've been checking the website of the
Canoe-Kayak nagazine and found this article about Ed Gillet http://www.canoekayak.com/features/gillet/ I've
sent other link some time ago but I can't find it now ... it might even
be the same. If you are trying to reach Ed Gillet, contacting the editor
of the magazine may be a possibility?. I remember someone in Paddlewise
is/was related to them so maybe she can help to find a way to contact Ed
Gillet. Respecting chile .... it's not chile but check this ....
http://www.findelmundoexpediciones.net/e-online.html If you have problems
reading spanish, follow this links (some translation available)http://www.findelmundoexpediciones.net/pdf/english.pdf (Spanish
and English pdf about the expedition)http://www.findelmundoexpediciones.net/e-online6.html (
The day by day trip report on-line )http://www.findelmundoexpediciones.net/galeria/fotos1.html (Pictures)http://www.findelmundoexpediciones.net/galeria/videos1.html (Videos) It's
the first kayak crossing of the "Le Mer Strait" and circumnavigation of
the "Isla de los Estados", "Staten Island", or better known by famous
writer Jules Verne as the "Lighthouse of the End Of The World". Argentina
X-treme sea kayaking. The same group paddled to Cape Horn (Chile) ...
where the 40's roar ... ( yes ... the famous "Roaring Forties" ... ),
from Ushuaia (Argentina) in Tierra del Fuego, but close to Punta Arenas
(Chile), also in Tierra del Fuego. I am a personal friend of the team so
I can contact you with them if interested. Other friend of mine has been
paddling on the Puerto Mont area, towards the south, where the glaciers
meet the ocean, but he is somewhere in Germany now and I haven't heard
from him in a couple of years, good excuse for me to find him !. I'll do
my best. I also remember an autralian paddlewisenheimer who's been
paddling Tierra del Fuego a couple of years ago ... am I wrong ? As I
don't know of other southamerican paddlewiser ... I feel like being the
only ambassador from there. But unfortunatelly/fortunatelly I do all of
my paddling in beatifull hawaii right now. Aloha Fernando ./

Hi folks - I lurk on Paddlewise - the esteemed Ralph Diaz is a contributing
editor for C&K - that's the Canoe & Kayak connection -- another editor here,
Mike Kord, interviewed Ed gillet for the story on our web site. Mike's out
sick today but I'll ask him for contact info.
