[Paddlewise] Bear idiot

Most of us up here in Alaska familar with Treadwell figured that
eventually he would be mauled and killed by a bear. "That guy is nuts" was the
comment I kept hearing about him. He anthropomorphized the bears and treated
them like "his buddies"rather than for what they were, wild animals. His main
mistake was that he felt he could always predict their behavior. Like any
animal species, including humans there are always rogues that defie normal
boundaries of behavior. Some bears are aggressive especially if hungry and are
unpredictable. With the salmon run dwindling and the stress of winter coming
on bears can get even more aggressive and unpredictable.

Sadly his misguided view of bears cost the live of his girl friend and two
bears.
