There was an incindent les than a year ago (though my feeling of time is subjective). He was on a day-trip, AFAIK, used his cellophone and was rescued about 48 hours later. Didn't have a VHF radio. Was lucky to have a connection via cellophone - they are useless farther than a few miles offshore. I don't recall any details about his kayak or sail rig. Most likley didn't have either outriggers, or proper rudder, or both (since didn't have a VHF).
