What a great opportunity to comment on my home waters!!!! Here are a
few fun facts :-)

1. The Bay has 11,684 miles of shoreline
2. The Bay is 200 miles long and between 3.4 to 35 miles wide
    (about 24ish where I live, I think)
3. It has an average depth of only 21 feet, with 100+ foot troughs
(21 feet is considered "deep" water in my section)
4. The square footage is 200 billion sq ft (7,000 sq miles)
5. It contains approx. 18 trillion gallons of water
6. It's drainage basin includes 150 major rivers and streams
7. There are 3600 species of plants, fin fish and shell fish

Many say the marshes "stink". But I say it's the smell of home sweet
home!!!!

BTW - I'm still recouping from Isabel. I experienced tidal flooding,
but my home is still livable, so we're still in it. We lost 5 trees,
none of which landed on the house, and were without electricity for 10
days. But, I won't have an HVAC system again until late December, so
that will still be a pain in the tush for a while yet. Plus, other
ongoing repairs will disrupt life for quite a while. I never thought
I'd stand in line for hours, just for a couple bags of ice and a bag of
bagels, or stand in a FEMA line, but I now have. It sure helped me with
perspective and empathy/sympathy for other disaster victims past and
future. Several couples we're friends with are now homeless (condemned
due to extensive damage) and lost everything, so by comparison, I'm
still feeling fortunate.

On the bright side, I was (still am) in the process of building a
stripper. It had it's first taste of salt water when the house flooded
early in the storm. Since Isabel beat me to the launching, I'm naming
the boat "Isabel". It's the Outer Island designed by Jay Babina.

Anyway...
