Speaking of the power of lightening. A number of years ago several kayakers were killed in NE when, during a storm, they sought shelter in a concrete gun emplacement bunker. Lightening struck the bunker, traveled through the rebar and into 2 of the kayakers within. When ligthening is around there aren't many good places to hide around water.
