[Paddlewise] Crossing the centerline: was Greenland technique

Consider this question: Which centerline are we talking about?

If we refer to the boat's centerline, then the admonition not to cross it with the offside (upper) hand does indeed limit the stroke -- even a highly vertical stroke.

But if we refer to the BODY'S centerline, then the admonition has some validity. As the arm crosses the body, there could be a loss of efficiency. But with lots of (highly efficient) torso rotation, the offside hand can be at the body's midline (a strong position) and travel well past the boat's midline.

> The old saw about not crossing the centerline is not
> valid, either for modern EP technique or for GP technique.
