Checking out your pictures, it looks somewhat cool when you went. Or were you just covering up from the sun? We went in January so it was a bit cool especially early morning, when it was about 50 degrees F. In St Nicholas we also had a strong N wind which kept us very cool until mid day. Daytime temps were in the mid 70s to low 80s except when the N wind was fierce then it was in the upper 60s. We were always on the water before dawn and finished mid day depending on the wind. El Norte can raise a big chop, we had one day where folks 25 feet away completely disappeared in the wave trough. Rounding Pulpito can be a challenge because you have beam winds and waves until you round the point, and it is the furthest point east in the sea of Cortez. This point also has a very long fetch of water above it so the waves can be pounding. Make sure you have calm weather before you try Pulpito, don't take chances unless you are a storm chaser then it might be fun. Outward Bound lost several members of a group near Pulpito. -- MZ *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - Any opinions or suggestions expressed here are solely those of the writer(s).
