There was a revision of 18421 (the San Juan Islands) from before the
mid 1990's that showed the contour elevations for the islands.  It was
much easier to navigate with than the current revisions which only show
the elevations of the peaks.  Navaids are great, but sometimes simply
knowing the shape of the surrounding land can be even more helpful.

I like the suggestion someone made to Photoshop a topo and a chart onto
the same image so you have high detail land _and_ sea data.

For night paddling, I think Rob hit it right on the head--a topo would
be next to useless.
