I did a quick Google Search on Polar Bear Research and up popped the 
Churchill Northern Studies Centre.  The web address is

I can't remember who started  this thread but why not drop them a line and 
hear what the experts in Polar Bear behavior have to say on kayaking in 
polar bear country.  If you do e-mail them post the response.  I'd love to 
see what they say.
