[Paddlewise] Sea Anchor and Tide Stream

Paddlers,
I've just grazed upon an internet advertisement for a German sea anchor, which
includes the claim that a sea anchor can be of assistance to make progress in
a current.
Has anyone used a sea anchor to make headway in a tide stream? Does this work?
What are the problems?
