Jolie said (snip): >>>Beautiful paddle today, some stiff gusts and wind waves, but blue skies with high, white clouds and lots of our seasonal visitors, in the way of interesting water-fowl, for company. Sat and floated by a bald eagle, brilliant against the blue sky. The pines on the surrounding islands are lit up with sun, and Mount Baker is glowing with white snow in the distance. Although the conditions were pretty much those that Doug would consider "dreadfully boring", it sure beats football. Merry Christmas from Limestone Point, San Juan Island. Jolie<<< Well, I don't even remember Christmas really...a rush at the end here at Santa's little workshop in Victoria (AKA Doug's "The NO Yankee Workshop"), a blur of Barbie Dolls, Mary-Kate and Ashley DVDs, Mad Turkey Disease (just puts you to sleep for a while), more MTD, and Boxing Day blowouts - the true meaning of Christmas. My boat sat in its cradle so forlorn. Glad someone got out on the water and heard nature "with a voice as big as the sea.". Maybe a New Year's day paddle is in order. Major dustup here in BC: cops raided the provincial legislature (!), tracking down (possible) organized crime links in high places. "BC Bud" is a 6 billion dollar industry with trading alliances in the US in exchange for cocaine. So no packing anything that look's remotely like dried leaves or white powder. :-) To everyone, a happy, and a very safe, New Year.
