Last year I originally laid out a general schedule for 3000 miles hoping that I would actually get 2000 Nm in for the year. By July it was clear that I was not going to come close to the 2000 Nm and even 1000 Nm was going to be tough to reach. I really wanted to at least reach 1000 so I tried to get more time on the water in the second half of the year. I averaged 120 Nm per month for Aug - Dec to reach 1003.25 Nm for the year. Aug. at 90 Nm was the low for that stretch and Nov at 175 Nm was the high. I think 1500 Nm is a realistic goal for 2004, but I am going to start out trying to follow a 2000Nm pace because I know something will come up later in the year. And yes that trip report is about the paddle where I reached 1000. Mark J.
