Hello Everyone,

Just returned from several months of kayaking in Baja.

It was spectacular!

While I was there I paddled the coast from Mulege to Loreto and then around
Bahia De Los Angeles.

The rest of the time I spent exploring and day tripping.

Unfortunately I ran out of time and didn't make it down as far as La Paz,
next time.

I am planning to head back down there in October for a month with the hopes
of exploring the waters south of Loreto down to La Paz.

This was my first time paddling in water that was warm, it felt really nice
to get splashed and not get cold.

Bye for now, lots of work to catch up on.

Kirby

IMHO, in late December it was less than 17 C (65 F) at the beaches in
half-protected bays. It was 2-3 degrees warmer in tide pools or Mulege river
(should be renamed into Mulege Swamp after the hurricane), and this is
probably what I would consider a comfortable range for swim if it were
doable there, and 2-3 degrees colder in the open sea when I touched the
water by hand. Warm enough to not get cold when splashed, but swimming
without a wetsuite and booties I can't imagine - at least for pleasure :-).
Swimming and snorkeling will begin there (I think) somewhere from April
through October.
Alex.
