I travel by air often and take along my Klepper AE2 and Balogh Sail rig. I
just don't take the AE2/Sail on the plane with me. Instead, I pack it and
send it UPS to the nearest UPS terminal to my destination. Then, I rent a
car or van and go pick it up at the "will call" window. The typical UPS
bill is around $42 one way, which beats the airlines for sure. Plus, I can
track the shipment and be sure it arrived before I even board the plane. It
also allows traveling with camping gear that can't fly, like white gas
stoves and flares. When done, the process reverses and I ship the stuff
home. Works well for me.
