Okay... here's one more that I was going to keep to myself, but a couple
co-workers who were reading over my shoulder threatened bodily harm if I
didn't spill the beans on this. But, DON'T LAUGH!!!! IT'S NOT FUNNY!!!
:-)

I was out on a breezy day, with my camera, looking for some good photo
ops. Well, I was in and out of little coves, cuts, creeks and so forth,
when I spotted a bunch of ducks in the water just up ahead.

I got the camera ready, and started paddling towards them, ever so
slowly so as not to spook them off. As I got closer, I gave a few good
paddle strokes to get some momentum up, laid the paddle across my
cockpit, raised my camera, and intended to glide closer and snap a
picture of two just as they started to take off as a group.

I got closer, and closer, and closer, and they hadn't been spooked yet.
Not a problem... today was my lucky day! What a great close up picture
this was going to be!

Ahhh, NOT! Something wasn't right, and as I got really, really close, I
realized what it was. I was sneaking up on about 30 or so decoys that
someone had left in the water. Or, maybe they hadn't left them. Maybe
they were in their hiding spot trying not to laugh too loud! Either
way, I looked around and then sheepishly left.

I made the mistake of telling some duck hunting co-workers about that
incident. Damn, they have long memories!!!!

I was out quietly paddling along the Intracoastal Waterway only a few
blocks from my house, when I was charged by an enraged manatee. Scared the
bejeasus out of me. The charge died out a few feet from the boat.

Enraged Manatee? Sounds like a good name for a rock band.
