I shouldn't relate this, but what the heck. A bunch of us were paddling around Puget Island in the Columbia River. I spied a bunch of ducks floating amonst the reeds, so of course went in for a closer look. I gave my usual ducky calls as I approached, expecting some ducky reply, but the ducks were very quiet. I tried several more of my very best duck imitations, but still no response. All of a sudden two guys with guns stood up amongst the weeds and shouted "f**k y*u". It was a tossup whether I was more embarassed or afraid of those guys with guns. I left promptly and sheepishly. Brad Bradford R.
