Tony: One of the books I have consulted in planning my own trip to Alaska this year is "Sea Kayaking in Southeast Alaska," by Jim Howard. It discusses paddling ideas, including logistical suggestions, in locations all around the Inside Passage, and seems well suited to a paddler looking for short trips in a number of spots.
