Actually, my list wasn't necessarily taken from all my own experiences, but I'll stuff a sock in it so I don't need to back-track post-post later on (hint - some major big-name expeditions). On a more serious note, severe foot infections/fungi problems are a reality to think about when one considers first aid kit supplies. Can't remember if that was on previous lists. The other one is sort of related: skin-type heat rashes and such. The only product I've found the alleviates this condition is Cortisone ointment (difficult to procure in some geographical locations). I've gotten some nasty heat rashes in drysuits/drytops. One product I like to carry in my first aid kit is high-grade T-tree oil. It is a wonderful natural antiseptic with many other uses. BTW, John, et al, as far as my tongue-in-cheek list snipped above, some of those _were_ from my experiences on group expeditioning. Other paddlers skills are not the huge issue necessarily, but rather the emotional intelligence representative within the group. And yes, I've been on both the receiving end and the giving end of that spectrum. That's why I crave solo paddling so much these days from the Victoria perspective. Paddlers can be so opinionated and this often extends to backbiting, backstabbing, and character assassination on a long trip, both within the group and as various names of friends and associates come up. I'm guilty too at times. I refuse to paddle with other paddlers now (as I work on the issue myself, too) who constantly put others down. Life's too short. Sorry for the ramble, tired, spent last night in the ER cardioverting. Take care.
