Leigh et al... One research path could be to look at fins and rudders off old sailing dinghies etc... I have acquired what I would describe as a 'dagger plate' off an old catamaran for $10 or so, hardwood, but nicely foil shaped and about 400mm long and say 20mm wide at hull depth, and tapering off. The cunning plan is to buy a new [or used ] rudder head without blade from Klepper and shape the blade to the head. This would be a fixed, ie, non-retrievable blade, for simplicity's sake I sail a single with what we describe as a 'Tasmanian' rig, probably best described as a lugsail, which probably does not generate the sort of power the traditional Klepper rig would. But the original river blade design of the Klepper certainly does not cope too well with ocean conditions.
