Actually, my impression is that Keith relied on other people to do his
research on the river. His "purposeful misinformation" makes the book
inaccurate and there are quite a few landmarks, launches, and campsites
that aren't where they're listed in his book.

Phil Jones, longtime Portland boater and guidebook author, wrote up a long
list of "purposeful misinformation"  in the Hays book on the yahoo group
pdxseakayaker.com on March 4 (message #2921). Oops.
