Thanks to all of the help on the balanced Klepper rudder responses and this job is now underway. Does anyone have any experience with manufactured or home constructed cockpit bags suitable for the Klepper whilst extended sea touring? I am thinking of bags that would be temp. mounted via straps on the wooden frames beside the paddlers (and between the frames) and allow for water repellent (as opposed to waterproof) storage of gear and zip access whilst underway. Given the width of the Klepper and other older foldable double designs it seems that this space is under utilised. Items that would go here could include: flares, tow line, snacks/lunch, first aid kit in w'proof bag, w'proof camera, fishing gear/lures - all the iddy bits that we love to carry but don't want up the ends or at our feet. I have seen mark longhauls bags and was either considering purchasing some (4) or constructing something of similar dimensions - possibly via a local canvas tarp maker shop.I would think canvas or truck side PVC would be the best materials. Has anyone made their own? Any have any ideas or experiences to share. Why canvas? It's getting wet together with everything inside. *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - Any opinions or suggestions expressed here are solely those of the writer(s).
