Has anyone paddled the Spirit design by Hans Friedel? Newfound Woodworks
has plans/kits for this boat, and it seems to resemble the John Winters
style of kayak, which I like.

It seems to be similar to a QCC600, although lower in front (11 inches
vs. 12 for the QCC) and lower in the back. The back of the spirit is
only 7.5" deep.

I'm wondering about primary and secondary stability. Thanks for any
insight.

I was also wondering how it is as far as weatherhelm. With that low back
deck I'm thinking it should be pretty good and not require a skeg for
going straight in cross breezes.

You can see it at http://www.newfound.com/spirit.htm
