This year we've decided to go south instead of north. Would be interested
in any comments on flat-water kayaking (or kayak-sailing) in Arkansas, esp.
Bull Shoals, Norwalk, and Beaver Lakes, and Big Lake (by Blytheville).

My wife and I have paddled on Beaver Lake for over five years during spring
break, the water is clear and the lake has many nice campsites owned by the
U.S. Army Corps of Engineers ( http://www.swl.usace.army.mil/parks/beaver/
). Our favorite site is Lost Bridge North. Since it is early in the season
we see few power boaters and have only met one other kayaker. The lake can
get challenging if a storm moves in.

This past spring we paddled on Lake Dardanelle which is part of the Arkansas
River at Russelville. They have a beautiful state park in Russelville but
the water quality is not as good as on Beaver Lake. The setting is more
metroplotan than the less developed shoreline of Beaver Lake.
