I'm planning a kayaking honeymoon with bride to be in November and
looking for advice on kayak / camping in New Zealand. Plans are to
purchase a folding double and spend the majority of 3 weeks on the
water. Does anyone know of a boat comparable to the Feathercraft K2
that is built in New Zealand? What about outfitters with good British
style boats for touring? We're looking for more advanced trips. I'm
BCU4 Star and ACA Open Water Instructor. She's 3Star level working her
way up. I know-I know...how lucky can a guy get!
Thanks for any suggestions in advance.
Chris

There are two books which may help:

Sea Kayaker's Guide to New Zealand's South Island by Alex Ferguson ,
ISBN

Vincent is the current president of the Kiwi Association of Sea Kayakers
(KASK) and lives in Auckland. Alex is a Paddlewiser in Christchurch.

Where Peter went was presumably Abel Tasman National Park, lovely but
can get crowded. The Marlborough Sounds are similar but less crowded.

You should be able to bring a folder. Coming from the US you should be
entitled to two bags each of up to 32kg per bag, but check with your
airline.

If you want more detail on anything, you are welcome to contact me
directly.

Just remember that Americans drive on the wrong side of the road, and
you will have to correct that here.
