In such places they try to steal mostly not kayaks, but something from a kayak or from a tent. Of course, movement-activated alarm like computer-antitheft device will work - but for a kayak only. IR alarm sounds when anybody is approaching closer than 30 ft, and 110dB (not all of them are that loud) is enough to warn me on some distance or to deter most of them. *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - Any opinions or suggestions expressed here are solely those of the writer(s). Funny "remote wilderness" you guys have, where people come and steal stuff ? We hardly have any remote wilderness in Denmark, but nobody ever stole anything from any of my campsites. And we do not use locks etc, but just leave our gear on the beach when we walk in town for a ice-cream ! But off course this is the land of H C Andersen Lenze * *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List - Any opinions or suggestions expressed here are solely those of the writer(s).
